VISUAL JOURNALS

My Visual Journals are a place to discover my deepest feelings about relationships, events that have happened, encounters in nature and the meaning of place. As I work, I immerse myself in the piece; it is as if time stands still. My senses become more vivid, my emotions more intense. I discover a new way of understanding. As I witness my life through this act of creation something larger than my mind takes over. It feels very magical. Sometimes working on a particularly powerful piece can feel like a ritual. As I put my strongest intentions onto the paper, it feels like a visual prayer. I have carried my journals across continents; they are a way to record the ambience I feel: the mystery of spiritual India, the push and pull of Africa, the wonder of the place where I live. On these pages, I have recorded grief, joy and all the subtleties that lie between. I have been teaching Visual Journal workshops for the past nine years
